Made to Burn

Life still runs

feral in me.

I haven’t spent

all my trouble yet.

There are nights

I haven’t burned through,

curses

I haven’t spoken.

I’ve spent too long

learning how not to break.

Now I want

to learn how to live.

To kiss the edge of ruin,

to run from the right place,

to wear the night

until morning.

Don’t save me.

Wake me.

I was never made

to disappear quietly.

I came here

to burn

until the last light

goes out.
